GUEST BLOGGER - Holly Genc

Hi everyone, Today on the blog I have the very talented Holly sharing how she includes memorabilla in her albums.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi! Holly Genc here, and I'm very excited to do a guest post on Lydia's blog! I have been Scrapbooking since I was around Lydia's age! Back then it was gray pages spiral bound into big books with not many options. I remember using rubber cement to glue the pictures down and then writing on the pages! Boy, it has changed!! I love it!

I'm a Stay-At-Home-Mom to 3 kiddos, aged 6 and under. I left the workforce as an architect when my middle one was 18 months. He is now 4! It's a fun, busy time with lots of cute photo ops!! (Which require documenting). In February, I started a blog with my good friend, LulyGonzalez. Check us out at www.paintedladiesjournal.com.

Are you the type of scrapper that scraps every week? Bravo! I'm trying to become that, but with 3 small children it doesn’t always happen. I do try to get together with my girlfriends once a month to do a mega crop. That just means I need to collect stuff until I get to sit down and do it! What about those special pieces of memorabilia? Where do you put it so that you can find it later, when you need it?

I started a Memorabilia Binder for just this issue. All you need is an 8.5x11 binder, office supply page sleeves, and some sticky label tabs.  I added tabbed labels to the sleeves to indicate the project or album in which it belongs. You could also label by month.  As time goes by and you collect items that you think would be fun to include in your Project Life album, drop them in the appropriate sleeve.

Later, when you are ready for a crop, you can just grab the sleeve(s) for the project(s) you plan to do. Sometimes some of these items get added all at once after the album is done. A wedding invitation. A birth announcement. The family Christmas card. Unless you remembered to leave a spot for it, you need an alternative. For flat cards, I sometimes just punch them right into the book and at a coordinating ribbon tab or Washi tab. If it's the right size, I use the page protector inserts (I think I now have every variety!).

Thanks for having me as your guest, Lydia.

'My Story' - 12x12 Layout

Here again today sharing another 12x12 layout I did earlier in the week. (Trying to catch up on Blog posts before school goes back tomorrow :( )

This layout I tried to do something a little differnt to my most recent 12x12 layouts, So I jumped onto Pinterest and found a gorgeous layout by ClaudiavanR at Studio Calico using Maggie Holmes 'Open Book' and I just happened to have all the big elements from her layout.

I love how it turned out.
(My layers withe the paper are'nt as big because I only got teh 6x6 paper pad from this collection.)

Using some stickers.

My title from the 12x12 chipboard sticker sheet.

'Love This Moment At Sunset' - 12x12 Layout

Good morning everyone on this beautiful Sunday.
I am finially back with a 12x12 layout I did earlier in the week using Amy Tangerine 'Rise and Shine'.

For this layout I got out my gelatos in the same colours that were in my sunset photo to give the background colour.

I knew it needed somthing up in the top corner so I grabed a couple of scrap pieces of my 6x6 'Rise and Shine' paper pad and did a few banners.

I love, love, love these cute little stickers I piscked up from a cheap shop. They came in a pack about 3x8 with 4 or 5 differnt sizes. I love becuase they give the same effect as enamal dots.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend.
Happy Scrapping. :)

GUEST BLOGGER - Mariah Hechler

Hey Everyone, Today on the blog I have the beautiful and talented Mariah sharing a wonderful layout and sharing her Scrapbook Planner.

Lydia xxx

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi there!  I'm excited to be here on Lydia's blog today.  I'm Mariah.  I've been scrapbooking for about 12 years.  I'm married to my high school sweetheart.  We have three boys ages 7, 9, and 11.  I am currently a design team member for Clique Kits.  That has been a lot of fun.  In my spare time I like to read, hunt and fish, camp, and spend time with my family.

Here is my Social Media Information:
Instagram: mhechler

So, today, I want to share a layout with you and a few tips on how to organize your photos and pages for layouts.

I made this layout using a sketch from the Scrap Our Stash March Sketch Challenge designed by Karan Gerber.  I don't usually use sketches when I scrapbook, but I really loved this one.  The papers came from the March Clique Kits J'Adore Kit.

Now to how I organize my photos and pages for crafting.  I think I should start off by saying that I have three different types of scrapbooks.  Three are chronological (One for each boy), one is just for fun, and the other is my Project Life Album.  Let's talk about how I organize each of those.  Let's start with my Just for Fun Album.  This album has no rhyme or reason.  It's not organized at all other than by the fact it's made with photos or stories that I love.

The next album is my Project Life Album.  This album is organized chronologically by week for the year 2015.  I don't follow the strict two page rule.  So in the photo below you are looking at Week 4 and Week 5.  That doesn't mean I don't do the two page spreads, however.  I just decided not to limit myself into a box this year.  I choose to run my weeks from Friday to Thursday.  So, if I were to do this week, it would start Friday April 10-Thursday April 16.

Here is my planning page for Project Life.  I usually just go through the photos on my phone or computer and write them down when they are in the time frame of a certain week.  You can see it's really formal..ha.  I usually just toss the sheet out when I'm done with all of the pages and start a new one.

Now, how I make my chronological albums is quite different.  These are extremely planned and fit my Type A personality.  Now, I'm doing one for each child.  So each child will receive chronological albums for their childhood.  Most of the pages I do are duplicates.  So I make the same page three times.  I might use different papers or embellishments, but they are the same photos and photo layout.  I also include pages that are unique to each boy.  So special accomplishments or things about each child are included.  Here is how I plan them.  I keep a notebook.  This notebook is like my prize possession when it comes to scrapbooking.  It holds my sketches and pages that are planned to be made.  It's pretty complicated so, I decided to make a quick Youtube Video for you.  Please let me know if you have questions in the comments!

It was great to be here today.  Thanks, Lydia, for having me!  Hope you all enjoyed it!

#myselfiescrapbook Challenge/Project

Hi everyone!!
Here to share a awesome project that I have joined in on brought to you by Jen Lake from Sunshine And Air.

This project is based on getting yourself in front of the camera and not behind it. I really wanted to do this project as 1 of my big goals this year was to get more photos of myself into my Project Life. the project is mean't to be in a 4x4 Instagram album but I have decided that since I dont have one I am going to have a go at making a mini album, as I have been inspired by @nataliemakes and @melissamariemakes mini albums on Instagram.

To get all the information and to see the wonderul works from the partners of this project make sure to visit Jen's Blog post here.

I will be sharing my process and photos of #myselfiescrapbook on here and on my Instagram (lyd_gibson).

Happy Easter!!

Good Afternoon everyone. Wow, I have'nt posted since the 28th of my Junkies post.
Well I am back here to wish you all a very late Happy Easter. I hope you all had a great time with family and had lots of chcoclate to eat.

I am sharing this a bit late as I wannted to share it before easter but was a bit busy with the last few days of First term at school.

I made up these cute little chocolate bags for my friends at school for easter. I also made cute easy tags for the bags just say 'Happy Easter'.

All I used to make these cute tags are some Dear Lizzy Project Life cards, card stock, sewing machine and some little alphas.

I love how they ended up and I am sure my friends loved the chocolates too.
I will be back later sharing Week 12 of my PL and a 12x12 layout I have just finished.
